Kava is a root. It comes from Piper methysticum, a plant in the pepper family that grows across the South Pacific. For centuries, people in Fiji, Vanuatu, Tonga, and Samoa have prepared it as an evening drink shared from a bowl. Rooted puts that same root into a pouch.

No. They are unrelated plants from different parts of the world. Kava is a root from the South Pacific, and kratom comes from the leaves of a tree in Southeast Asia. There is no kratom in any Rooted product.

Kava plants come in many varieties. Noble kava is the group with the longest record of traditional everyday use, and it is the only kind Rooted uses.

No. Zero nicotine, zero tobacco. A pouch is a format, not an ingredient.

Everyone is a little different. The most consistent thing people notice is a light tingle or mild numbness where the pouch sits, which is one of kava's signatures. Beyond that, people usually describe the experience as calm and clear-headed rather than foggy.

Yes. Kava is sold legally in the United States, most often as a dietary supplement. Rules differ in other countries, so check local regulations if you travel.

Place one pouch between your gum and upper lip. Leave it there. No chewing and no swallowing. We did put "no swallowing" on the mailer, and we meant it. Don’t swallow the pouch. But we want to clarify that you can swallow your saliva as usual while the pouch is in your mouth. When you are done, take it out and throw it away or discard it in the top of your tin.

Most people keep a pouch in for 15 to 45 minutes. It is strongest in the first 15 minutes and keeps delivering for up to 45.

Yes. A light tingle or mild numbness around the pouch is expected, and it is one of the most recognizable things about kava.

Rooted is for adults 18 and over. Do not use it if you are pregnant or nursing, have or have had liver problems, or take medications that affect the liver. If you have a medical condition or take prescription medication, talk to your doctor first.

No. Do not combine kava with alcohol.

Do not drive or operate machinery until you know how kava affects you. Try your first pouch somewhere comfortable, like at home.

You can return unopened tins within 14 days of delivery. Email photos showing the tin was never opened to contact@rootedpouches.com. We do not accept returns on opened tins. If something arrives damaged, wrong, or missing, email us within 14 days, and we will make it right.

Subscriptions require one month. After your first month, you can cancel anytime from your account, or email us and we will take care of it.

Your first order is charged at checkout, and each renewal is charged on your billing date. We email you before a renewal ships.
